What is up with the ugly mustang at DIA?

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

First of all, it is a blue mustang with red, glowing eyes! Ick!!!

I checked out DIA's website and here is what they say....

"Mustang was completed and installed posthumously, serving as a tribute to Luis Jimenez’ life and body of work. The bright blue, rearing horse with lighted red eyes welcomes visitors and passengers to DIA as they approach or leave Jeppesen Terminal on Peña Boulevard. The greeting is not gentle, but dynamic, strong, and forceful. In this way, Mustang makes reference to the personality of the American mesteño (or mustang), the history of the West, and the majesty of this environment."

Hmmm....

I've always thought that thing was uber creepy! I've almost wanted to shield my children from for fear of the nightmares that might follow. Thank you for shedding some light on this!
